Meet Kerli - Estonian Singer and Songwriter

Kerli Koiv (better known as Kerli) is a singer/songwriter from the small town of Elva, Estonia.

She has been singing since she was a small girl and dropped out of school at the age of 16 to pursue a musical career.

Her first recording contract was with Universal Sweden; unfortunately, there were some issues out of her control and she was dropped from the label.

For the next two years, Kerli continued to perform, competing in talent competitions in Sweden.

When she turned 18, she moved to the United States and was signed to Island Def Jam Music Group (Island Records).

After being signed to Island Records, she began to write and record her very first album called “Love Is Dead”.

In 2008, the album “Love Is Dead” was released and contained a mixture of pop and rock songs.

“Walking On Air” was the first song from the album to receive rotation on Top 40 radio stations.

In 2010, Kerli released four songs. The first two were “Tea Party” and “Strange” that appeared on the “Almost Alice” album released by Disney to promote the film “Alice in Wonderland”. The third was “Nature Boy”, which was recorded and used in a promo for the TV show “Smallville”. The fourth was “Army of Love”.

In 2011, “Army of Love” peaked at number 1 on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart for Billboard ; and Kerli announced that she would start writing and recording for her next album, due out sometime in 2012.
