A personal rant...
What is it about Facebook that just pisses me off?
Well, for starters, the lack of communication. Second, people that "collect" friends (but I'll save that topic for another article).
Facebook, is a social networking platform. It is for social networking.
What's the definition of social networking?
Social Networking : "*new means of communicating and sharing information between two or more individuals on an online community." (*citation at bottom of article)
Okay, the key part in that definition is the word "communicating".
I am so sick and tired of asking someone a question and I get ignored.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that people have lives outside of Facebook, but; if I ask someone a question on their Facebook page and they flat out ignore me for an entire month!...
I might let it slide once, but two or three times? No way!
I also might get the impression that this person either:
- A. Just added me to add more friends ("friend collecting"),
- B. Is a (insert your choice of bad word here),
- C. Is just ignoring me,
- D. Doesn't care and probably shouldn't even be on Facebook or any other social networking site because they obviously don't understand that the entire point of Facebook is to "communicate" with other people.
I'll give you two examples of non-communication that have really just made me angry.
The first: I was planning my Honeymoon to Gatlinburg, TN, and I asked a friend of mine if she could provide me with the name of the place she rented a cabin from two months earlier. This "friend" ignored me flat-out. I never got a response, however she had plenty of time to talk to all her other Facebook friends. Hmmm, makes you wonder, doesn't it?
The second: I have asked two or three times for Facebook friends' opinions when I am researching writing a new blog or article. I'll post a status update that will say something like: "Hey guys, I'm curious what your thoughts are on PC Games. Do you play them? Do you like them more than XBox or Playstation games?" Then I wait...and wait...and wait. None of my friends seem to ever have an opinion about anything. (And these are people that I know in real life, not just internet friends, and they flat out ignore me!)
It just pisses me off to no end!
With all this said - if you made it this far - thank you for reading this rant. If you feel the same way, let me know.
A Quick Note: This rant was written regarding personal Facebook pages. I understand that if you use Facebook for networking that it can be hard to communicate with everyone if you have an extensive list of friends.

Unfortunately most people don't get the full use out of facebook, for most people its just a huge time waster. I admittedly use facebook but only about once a week maybe twice. To be honest I'm not interested in looking at warped pictures of my friends or tending to someones 'imaginary garden' I really don't understand the logic in all of this.
I really think zuckerberg or whatever his name is should sell Facebook to Google, because I fell facebook, in 5 or so years will just be another online fad.
I love this hub you are so right! I hate when people don't respond to a direct question on facebook it's so...rude. Some people have facebooks and then they never even get on it it's like what's the point? Oh and the whole friend collecting this annoys me to no end too. I've also written a hub about some of the nonsense that happens on facebook if you wanna check it out. Great hub, voting up.
Well if it makes you feel better, I have it set up to where each hub I publish is automatically linked to facebook, yet nobody ever comments on them. However, I can understand where your coming from, as it never feels good to be ignored. Trust me, I've been there. Well not on facebook, but in real life in general, as i only use facebook to promote my hubs, and keep up with family that likes to use it. Other than that, I hardly ever use it, as I trust the administrators there as far as I can pick them up and throw them across the room. However, that's another topic to discuss at another time. However, good hub, and keep up the good work all that jazz.
Thanks for the comments!

I absolutely hate when I ask for opinions/advice/whatever and get no answers.
